Description

A juvenile Blanding's turtle. I'm so excited to have finally ID'd him and to know that I was able to have contact with an endangered species! He is back in the wild, in the perfect habitat. I really hope that he does well and does his part to bring this species back. Caught in my yard, Pine River WI

Yes, I'd agree with the ID as a Blandings, from this photo. The yellow under the throat and chin is distinctive. The shell changes appearance as it grows. Baby Box Turtles have very flat shells, too, but grow up to have those helmet-shaped shells. Makes them hard to ID, at first.
